Founded in 1996, October 6 University is a private higher education institution located in the urban setting of the small city of 6th of October City (population range of 250,000-499,999 inhabitants), Cairo. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Egypt, October 6 University (O6U) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 20,000-24,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. October 6 University (O6U) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study. O6U also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, housing, study abroad and exchange programs, as well as administrative services. The October 6 University is the first private university in the Arab Republic of Egypt. O6U is instituted by the Republican Decree number 243 1996. The university is a member of the Association of Arab Universities and the Association of African Universities. The University includes fourteen Faculties, University Hospital, and two hotels for male and female students. It has also established a center for quality assurance and accreditation having units in all the faculties, to enhance and disseminate quality culture. The University comprises a modern library.
